Finca La Esmeralda, Colombia, Yellow Bourbon

Equiano Coffee

They’re back! We’re very excited to have back two of our favorite Bourbon (pronounced “burr-bone”) coffee varietals from Colombia; our Finca El Danubio Pink Bourbon with its creamy body, floral, tropical fruit & honey characteristics and one of Equiano’s most popular small farm coffees, the Finca La Esmeralda, Colombia, Yellow Bourbon!

From the Nariño department of Southwest Colombia, this varietal of bean boasts a juicy body with flavor notes of berry and yellow fruit. Nariño has a diverse geography and varied climate according to the altitude. Nariño coffee is planted at high altitudes and its soils have a high content of organic matter that makes it possible to grow coffee at high altitudes that reach up to 2,300 meters above sea level. Its coffees are characterized by high acidity, sweet notes, and pronounced aroma.

Maybe it’s the soil that the coffee trees are grown in or the high elevation the farm sits at or maybe it’s the care that Finca La Esmeralda farmer, Libardo Piedrahita Santa, puts into the planting, nurturing, harvesting and processing that gives this particular bean its quality & uniquely delicious characteristics.

I highly recommend enjoying a cup of this fruity, buttery Yellow Bourbon for yourself! If you’re in Eugene, Oregon you can swing by the Equiano tasting room at 300 Blair Blvd. in the Whiteaker neighborhood and ask your friendly Barista to brew a pour-over of the Colombia Yellow Bourbon for you! You can also take some home to brew up in whole bean form or ground to your specifications. Not near Eugene, Oregon? No problem, both our Colombia Pink Bourbon and our Yellow Bourbon are available for purchase on our website at equianocoffee.com.
